Tour Overview

This stunning itinerary includes six nights in the most exclusive and magnificent camps the Masai Mara has to offer. The Masai Mara is home to Africa’s Big Five – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo & elephant – as well as large resident populations of hyena, giraffe, several species of antelope, and of course for four months of the year, the Great Wildebeest Migration. For your first three nights your will step back in time staying in the vintage luxury of Cottar’s 1920’s Safari Camp, offering marquee tents, antique furnishings and liveried staff. The luxury rooms all face out onto a valley filled with wildlife. The Camp has its own 6,000 acre private conservancy, one kilometre from the Masai Mara game reserve, providing easy access for day and night game drives to the Masai Mara game reserve and the conservancy, game walks, and cultural interactions with the Masai community.

You will cross the Maasai Steppe on your way to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s fourth largest and one of its most diverse. Stop at the picturesque park gate for the driver to fill up the park's registration book. You will go for a full day game drive in the park enjoying viewing animals in the park. Soon, the impressive Great Rift Valley Escarpment will come into view; a 2,000-foot-high wall that rises up, improbably steep and incredibly tall, out of the flat plains. Elephant, buffalo, and python are seen easily regularly cross your path, un-bothered by your benign presence and going about their daily routines. You’ll meander along bush tracks and explore the Tarangire River’s twists and turns, finding elephant drinking and playing in the refreshing waters. In the evening drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Stop to enjoy your picnic lunch at Naabi Hill before meandering through the wildlife-rich central Serengeti. Later in the evening at your camp, you will be able to settle in to your accommodation before joining other travelers in the camp dining area for some palate teasers in anticipation of a scrumptious meal this evening.
