How many days should I spend on a Tanzania Safari holiday?

How Long Should a Safari in Tanzania Be?

Ever thought of going on a safari to Tanzania but got stuck with the big questions. How long does a Tanzania safari take? How many days are best to experience a Safari in Tanzania? Only you can really answer this question as it comes down to your interests and preference.

How much do you want to observe the animals, watch their behavior, not be rushed, etc?

These are some other factors to put into consideration when deciding on the duration of your safari; factors such as time, budget, seasons, driving distance, etc.

The duration of an ideal Tanzania safari can take between 5 to 10 days, to ensure you hit all the top spots on your safari. The length though can depend on how long you’d like to stay and enjoy a specific place/hotel/park on your itinerary.

For example: There are several types of safari enthusiasts to Tanzania who will benefit from the approach of long multi-day Tanzania safari itinerary, as well as many who will not.

  • For the Experienced Safari traveler,

If you are an experienced safari-traveler, you will probably have seen most of the varied landscape and different animals that a newcomer will be looking for on a safari in Tanzania, this makes a huge difference on the way you plan to experience your safari.

You may well be better off with a more specialized safari, where you base yourself in a few areas for a longer period at a time.

  • For the Newbie Safari goer

The people looking for a more expansive safari experience and want to see it all in a short period of time will benefit the most by constantly hopping from one safari region to another. This is common with first-time safari-goers mostly travelling on a Tanzania safari as part of a group.

There are a lot of great Tanzania safari holiday packages that you can choose from, ranging from day trip safaris, short 2 to 3 day safaris to longer multi-day wildlife safaris that last for weeks, depending on your preference.

How much time to spend on a Safari? We believe that the best Tanzania safaris program shouldn’t rush you from one place to the next but should offer an in-depth guide to every place you visit.

  • Time to Appreciate and have a Better Safari Experience

Spending more days on a safari tour gives you the best possible chance of seeing what you have travelled to see on your Tanzania safari holiday. It allows you to make the most of your time during your safari, add-on activities such as walking safaris, culture tours, balloon rides, etc. can also easily be integrated in your day to day safari program to spice up your safari holiday.

  • A Slow-paced and Relaxed Safari

Spending more days on a safari also guarantees a more relaxed pace and flexibility during your safari days, you will have a varied and interesting time across the whole of your Tanzania safari holiday hence maximizing your safari experience.

EXPERT TIP: A safari is a really great experience, provided you plan it right. Before you book two weeks of safari in Tanzania, realize that you’re basically going to sit in a car all day every day while on safari, that’s if you don’t plan your safari right.

However, on a positive note; We recommend splitting your trip up into small chunks of various activities and locations to keep things fresh, and hopefully, give you a sense of achieving something cool, as well as relieving some of the stress that you have inevitably gone on holiday to deal with anyway.
